God's Big Surprise
by Cynthia Shepherd
Everyday of my spiritual journey brings a new adventure as God always surprises me. This particular situation was a BIG surprise.
For years since my divorce, I have prayed, "God I am satisfied with the single life and missionary work/ministry you have provided, BUT (a big BUT) if you have a special person for me to share my life with, then you will need to bring that extraordinary person into my life without me doing any of the work." WOW, did He answer this prayer. He sent me the archangel "Michael". I have had to pinch myself several times to make sure I am alive and breathing.
I had never laid eyes on Michael until the day of my yard sale last June for my Uganda/Israel missions trip. Suddenly, I experienced a special connection. Sweaty and messy, I was talking to my customers about my mission. Michael not only donated to my trip but bought my old missions suitcase. I almost cried when he said to me, "Besides this Cynthia, how can I help you get ready to go?" Did I know he was in my Sunday School class? “No.” I had never seen him before. He shared an interest in missions since he was a child. Yes, I was unexpectedly swept off my feet.
After our initially meeting and getting over the shock of my prayer being answered, Michael has been a gentleman and very attentive to me and my needs. We share so many things in common and enjoy being together.
Our friendship has bloomed in this hot Arizona desert. I am forever grateful and happy for this BIG surprise. He was the first person to sign up for my upcoming mission trip to Puerto Penasco, Mexico.
Amen and Hallelujah!
