Blessing - Fall 2017 Theme

Blessing - Fall 2017 Theme

Thank you for the prayers you submitted for release during the Everything Changed Prayer Tour. The prayers encouraged us as we traveled the Network during that prayer week. We were blessed.

“Blessed.” That brings me to our theme for the Fall 2017 Connection. Fall is traditionally seen as a time for ingathering. We might say, “Thank God for His bountiful blessings in this year.” We also say to one another; “God bless you,” or “Bless your heart.” We end our correspondence with “Blessings.”

With such common words, we may not stop to consider the weightiness of the blessing. In Scripture—particularly in the Old Testament—blessings were like money in the bank or cash in hand and as with Esau the missed blessing caused great grief. I have been in conversations that ended in words of blessing to me personally. I must admit, that makes me feel a bit awkward. However, as I consider the value of blessing from a Scriptural perspective, I think we may have missed valuable opportunities to speak favor into one another’s lives.

For Fall 2017 our Element theme is Blessing. Tell us your story about a time when you recognized specific favor from the Lord. Write a blessing for someone in your family, your church, your community. Share your thoughts on blessing; how we receive it, how we sustain it. Let us hear from you.

Submissions between 9/25 and 11/10; 500 – 800 words. We are also interested in photos and book reviews. Email to jburtram@potomacag.org.

We look forward to hearing from you.

“The blessing of the LORD be on you; we bless you in the name of the LORD.” Psalm 129:8
