Mommy, Bless Me

Blessing my sons at bedtime in one of my favorite memories. We would read Bible stories, say our prayers—prayer for everyone we could remember—and then tuck the children into their beds. “Mommy, bless me?” My middle son, James, would ask while tucking him into the top bunk. He shut his eyes as I laid my hands on his head.

Called to Be Holy

Paul told Timothy: “You are called to a holy life” (2 Timothy 1:9), and that’s what I was told when I committed my life to Jesus at age 19. I knew it was the right thing to do because of my teaching. I had no idea the meaning of living a holy life, though I’ve learned a lot in the last 65 years.
